Two  weeks ago at our fellowship we talked about Luke chapter 2 and the shepherds. We have be tracking the Advent Candles this year and the third candle is the Shepherds Candle. One of the things you cannot miss is the joy they find at the coming of Messiah!

You know the story.  A quiet, normal night.  Interrupted by Angels!  With mega-good news!  Peace on earth good will toward men!  They are terrified and stunned!  But the story is true and they see the sign, the evidence of it.

But it is what they do next that captures my attention today.  We read, “Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.”

They told everyone!  Made it widely known.  You and I have had this same experience.  We have seen Him.  Seen His saving grace, seen our lives changed.  We have seen what He has done in the lives of others.  Yet, we are kinda shy about it.  Religion is personal.  Can’t force it on others.  Or, so we are told.  Why would we be silent about such good news!  We aren’t forcing anything on anyone.  Just helping them make an informed decision about eternity!

We have good news!  We need to be more like the shepherds!  Lord, help us to proclaim like they did!
